The Reno Tahoe region is home to some of the most exciting events to be found in the western United States! July is Artown (July 1 – July 31)
Named one of the most comprehensive art festivals in the country by the National Endowment for the Arts, Artown stands as Reno’s premier display of both local and international creative disciplines. More than 500 events covering an array of different mediums, such as workshops, music, and theatre, span the entire month of July, with most festivities offered free to the public. Barracuda Championship (July 31 – Aug. 6)
For one week every summer, Reno’s Montrêux Golf & Country Club becomes home to one of 47 stops on the PGA TOUR. Boasting the only Modified Stableford playing format on the PGA TOUR, the Barracuda Championship offers a unique, high energy opportunity to watch 132 professional golfers compete for millions and a championship title. Shakespeare Festival (July 8 – Aug. 27)
Gourmet food and drink meet unparalleled talent on the shores of Lake Tahoe with Sand Harbor State Park’s Summer Shakespeare Festival, the perfect evening activity for the entire family throughout the months of July and August. More than 6,000 vehicles ranging from American muscle to exotic one-of-a-kinds, and racing cars to vintage trailers, will lace the streets of Reno and Sparks for the 31stAnnual Hot August Nights. CANFEST (Aug. 26)
CANFEST lives as the world’s original and premier CANNED craft beer festival. For one ticket price, beer lovers can enjoy unlimited samples of over 100 different brews from all around the country (most of which are not distributed in Northern Nevada) during this annual event held at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. Lucas Oil Off Road Racing (Aug. 26)
“A full-contact MMA fight on wheels,” the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is a nationally televised racing competition, where onlookers can watch drivers fly through the air at high speeds, as well as visit the teams’ pits and learn just how they do it. Just east of Sparks, the Series takes place at Wild West Motorsports Park; the most challenging and exciting course on the circuit! Click here for more information.
Burning Man (August 27 – September 4)
Building a temporary, self-sustaining community in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert was no easy feat, but Burning Man’s creators did it, and grew its population to today’s 60,000.
