Tee Up! Summer Golf in Reno Tahoe!
1. Pro Golf Up-Close-and-Personal
The Barracuda Championship, one of 47 stops on the PGA TOUR, is the perfect way for golf lovers to kick off summer in Reno Tahoe. For seven days at the end of June, spectators can watch the world’s best golfers up-close-and-personal as the PGA TOUR stops at Montrêux Golf & Country Club, northern Nevada’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course. There is fun for everyone at the event including a Women’s Day (with feature guest Juan Pablo Galavis from The Bachelor Season 18), Wine Walk, and Discovery at Barracuda. This year’s Barracuda Championship takes place June 27-July 3, 2016. You can get discount tickets here.
Bonus Points: You’ll find me at the Mixology at Montrêux cocktail competition. Only $10 with your event ticket, head on over to the Coors Light 19th Hole to taste 5 different cocktail creations from some of Reno’s best mixologists. Partial proceeds benefit the Terry Lee Wells Discovery Museum. Nothing better than cocktails for a cause on the green!
2. Super Bowl of Celebrity Sports
Later this summer, watch 80 pro athletes and Hollywood celebrities compete in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe South. This is the tournament to see if you’ve ever dreamed about seeing Larry the Cable guy play golf, or want a chance to experience Justin Timberlake breaking out the infamous “The Carlton” dance on the green with the pristine water of Lake Tahoe as the backdrop. Yes, that happened. It’s the “Super Bowl of Celebrity Sports” and it’s happening on down the road in South Shore July 19-24, 2016.
Bonus Points: The Korbel Celebrity Spray-Off is exactly as awesome as it sounds. Players show off their locker-room celebratory skills and see how far their cork can go, with all proceeds going to charity.

3. Let’s Play Ball
Maybe you’d rather PLAY golf than just watch other people do it? Reno Tahoe is the perfect place with 50+ golf courses, that’s 900 holes within 90 minutes. Check out our Course Finder to find the perfect green for your yardage preference and budget. Want to plan your own customized golf getaway? Use our Golf Package page to create your perfect vacation. Don’t forget to impress your friends back home. At our altitude, golf balls automatically fly 10 percent farther. Play your best game and let your ball slice through our thinner air. Thanks, science!
Meet up after a round of golf at Masters Lounge, the little-known local favorite that is guaranteed to have two things: cheap drinks and the golf match on one of their large flat screen TVs. Bring your scorecard from that day to receive their “buy one get one free” drink specials. Feeling peckish after playing? Follow their Instagram to see which Food Trucks will be rolling by. Masters Lounge is located at 923 W. Moana lane in Reno, nestled between Washoe County Golf Course and Lakeridge Golf Course.
Bonus Points: Work on your golf game at Sierra Bay Aqua Golf, a driving range that features eight island greens of varying distance and difficulty at the Grand Sierra Resort. This isn’t your average putt-putt, there are PGA golf instructors, club rentals at their pro shop, and hole-in-one prizes that include a chance to win a Hawaiian vacation.

4. Fun Fore! the Whole Family
Golfing at night? YES! Swing on by the Incline Village Championship Course for Golf Glow Extravaganza June 17-August 26th, 2016. Everyone in the family can participate in florescent fun with glow golf putt-putt, glow in the dark chipping contest, shootout on the driving range, and more! Participants can enjoy drinks in light up cups and appetizers for purchase, free live music, and carnival games for the kids.
Ever look out on a driving range and think, “That open grass is begging to become a dance floor?” It’s happening Fourth of July Weekend! Bring your friends and family and rock out at Tahoe Donner July 2-3 at the Tahoe Donner Concert on the Green. This two-day concert features tribute bands for the Eagles, Elton John, Journey, and U2. Enjoy the music, food and drinks on the wonderful gentle sloped driving range surrounded by giant pines. This event sells out almost every year so be sure to check online for ticket availability.
Bonus Points: Golf The Bunker, a simulated indoor golf course at Grand Sierra Resort. This isn’t silly virtual reality, you’ll use regulation clubs and balls while playing simulated renditions of 36 championship courses including Pebble Beach, Kapulua, Harbour Town, and Pinehurst II. Golf around world while the family runs wild right next door at Fun Quest, a 40,000 square ft arcade with over 125 video and arcade games as well as the largest laser tag area in Reno.
