Summer Events in North Lake Tahoe
From high-energy races and tournaments, free music and wellness centeredevents, to celebrations of arts and culture, North Lake Tahoe has a massive list of summer events nestled mountainside or along sandy beaches for every outdoor junkie and traveling family.
Woven into the high-alpine mountains that stretch from shore to sky, enjoy complimentary music all summer long with the annual Tahoe High Notes music series. Five nights a week listen to tunes ranging from reggae, rock, country and pop in spacious showrooms and intimate pubs showcasing the thriving local music scene.
North Lake Tahoe is also the place to be for mindful restoration with one of the largest yoga festivals beloved by yogis around the world. Wanderlust Yoga &Music Festival returns to its birthplace of Squaw Valley July 14-17. Connect with the healthy living community and learn practices to rejuvenate body and mind with an array of world-class instructors, blacklight yoga, Acroyoga, guided adventures, local food and live music, headlined by Stephen “Ragga” Marley.
The sunny month of August is all about the cool Lake Tahoe water. The 44th annual Concours d’Elegance Boat Show is staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood August 12-13. Judges from throughout the United States evaluate the restoration of classic boats, including judging the level of authenticity as though directly shipped from the original factory. Celebrate the winners during the Awards Ceremony BBQ and let loose at the Ladies Luncheon and Men’s Grill—all eventsopen to the public.
Don’t leave the beach after the Concours d’Elegance Boat Show as the 10th Anniversary of the Ta-Hoe NALU Stand Up Paddle Festival returns August 12-14. The celebration is centered around the thriving Lake Tahoe standup paddleboard movement, featuring a variety of athletic and shopping vendors, fitness clinics, beginner and intermediate races celebrate the paddleboard culture with a warm and inviting aloha spirit.
September is all about soccer, food, wine and SUP. The Barcelona NorCal Soccer Tournament kicks off September 3-5 in Truckee with youth boy and girl teams competing for the love of the sport with many teams continuing to go on and perform at Nevada, California, Oregon and Utah tournaments.
Recognized as the premier food and wine festival in northern California, the 31st Annual Autumn Food & Wine Festival at Northstar California September 9-11 brings a medley of farm-to-table dinners, celebrity chefs, cooking demos, food, wine, beer and spirit pairings to the Sierra Nevada for a delectable weekend. Each day has something special such as the Progressive Picnic or Blazing Pans Mountain Cook-Off. The festival caps off with the Sunday Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting pitting regional chefs in a head-to-head chef-off pairing each dish with a choice wine or brew judged by industry experts and eventattendees.
The grand finale in a three-part race series, the Tahoe Fall Classic SUP Race, is a high-intensity 22-mile paddleboard race onSeptember 11 starting in South Lake Tahoe and ending in Tahoe Vista. The event enhances the growing paddleboard movement in Lake Tahoe. Proceeds from the race benefit local non-motorized aquatic programs in the Truckee-Tahoe area.
Rounding off summer with an adrenaline pumping race in the alpine Tahoe air is the Spartan World Championship Weekend in Squaw Valley October 1-2. Three Spartan Race courses range in length from three to 14 miles with 20 to 50 obstacles to overcome. While the most adventurous competitors are pushed to the edge on the Ultra Beast course ultimately crowing a world champion, beginners are invited to challenge themselves on the condensed Sprint course.
