Reasons to Attend the 2016 Celebrity Golf Tournament in Tahoe
For the last 25 years, American Century Investments has hosted the event at scenic Edgewood Tahoe. In that time, they have raised millions of dollars to help support local and national charities. This year, the event will benefit Stowers Insitute for Medical Research, a research organization focused on the development of innovative approaches to treat, diagnose and prevent disease. So come out to enjoy a day on the green while supporting a worthy cause.
We’re not just talking a few, somewhat well-known names. This tournament brings out the big guns by hosting actors, singers and professional sports stars. Have you heard of Justin Timberlake? Or maybe Aaron Rodgers? Yeah, they’ll be there. Also joining the squad this year is NBA’s 2015-16 MVP Steph Curry. Where else can you get up close with some of your favorite celebrities while watching them hang out in a beautiful, relaxed setting? Bring your camera (no long range lenses, please!) and sunscreen to catch all the action. A few other all-stars to see this year include: Charles Barkley, Roger Clemens, Joe Pavelski, Alfonso Ribeiro, Jerry Rice, Duck Dynasty’s Willie Roberston, Larry the Cable Guy and so many more.
More Than Golf
Sure, your primary reason to attend is to watch your favorite celebrities as they make their way around the course. But don’t count out some of the additional tournament features. For example, the always popular Celebrity Spray Off challenges players to create their best celebratory champagne spray. Winner is determined based on cork distance and spraying skills, and will receive money to donate to their charity of choice. If you’re looking for an opportunity to get a little closer to the players, check out Mid-Week Fun in the Sun. Those players not participating in the Celeb-Am tournaments will be practicing around the course-which also means time for autographs and pictures!
Big Memories, Little Spend
This is a great opportunity to grab the guys or the whole family and get outside in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. Our suggestion would be to book a room at one of Reno’s award-winning properties for afternoon and nighttime fun, and take the drive to Tahoe for the tournament. The drive is breathtaking and a definite must-see. Tickets start at $20 per person, per day, with kids 10 and under FREE. If you are looking to save a few dollars here, just stop by your nearby Raley’s, Bell Air or Nob Hill store for special discounts. And as a thank you for your service, any active duty, reservists, National Guard, military retirees and veterans will receive one complimentary ticket for them and a guest each day of the event.
