Racing Reno Tahoe: Motorsports

Racing Reno Tahoe: Motorsports

Get in the competitive spirit because we’re giving you another way to enjoy the races. Rumbling engines and high-speed action are the name of this game and there are still plenty of events to fill your adrenaline tank in 2016. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Racing Reno Tahoe: On Foot for even more ways to dominate the course.

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing
Wild West Motorsports Park / Sat. & Sun. August 13-14, 2016

This is one event where the vehicles don’t just drive down the track, they fly too! Hitting speeds of up to 90 mph and catching 100+ feet of air are just two of the reasons to watch these adrenaline junkies. Grandstand seating gets you great views of the race, and pit access gives you an up-close-and-personal experience with the drivers themselves. Single-day and weekend packages are both available with tickets starting at $10 (but kids 12 and under with an adult are FREE!!).

National Championship Air Races
Stead Airport / Wed. – Sun. September 14-18, 2016

Celebrating their 53rd year, they are planning an absolutely must-see event. They will have their already great line-up of events, including Unlimited and Jet class racers reaching speeds of over 500 mph, as well as some new additions. The Blue Angels are returning to the event this year and these guys put on one of the most unbelievable shows you’ll ever see. Seriously, don’t miss this. Once the races end, the fun keeps going… new this year is a concert addition with a live band both Friday and Saturday evenings.

SuperCrawl/Silver State Rock Crawling Championship
Wild West Motorsports Park / Sat. & Sun. September 24-25, 2016

While this doesn’t technically qualify as a “race,” it is currently the biggest rock crawling championship of its kind in North America and definitely worth a mention. The competition is fierce with drivers maneuvering around boulders, climbing steep hills and avoiding tumbles. Speed is not the goal here, but their ability to crawl through difficult terrain still gives edge-of-your-seat excitement.

ULTRA4 Nitto National Championship
Wild West Motorsports Park / Fri. & Sat. October 21-22

These vehicles are built for speed and serious off-roading. You’ll see rock crawling, corner cutting, downhill racing and probably even some rollovers… Familiar with King of the Hammers? Yea, these guys are the same crazy drivers. See the action with general admission or opt for the VIP package which includes special seating, parking and lunch.
