New Things This 2015-16 Ski Season

Beanies and smiles are appearing on snowboarders and skiers alike because, drumroll please, a brand new season of powder, lifts and slopes is on its way! The anticipation is high for El Nino this year so in preparation, it is a necessity to see what new things the Lake Tahoe ski resorts are bringing us this season.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows understands that life happens, so they are throwing your worries off the chairlift! For season pass 2015-16 purchasers, Squaw Alpine is offering a “Worry-Free Guarantee.” If you don’t ski or ride up to five days on your season pass, the “Worry-Free Guarantee” allows up to four unused days during the 2015-16 winter season to be used as credit toward the purchase of a 2016-17 Tahoe Super Pass. On the slopes, Squaw Alpine is introducing the new and improved Siberia Express chair lift. There is nothing worse than getting stuck on a stopped chairlift. This now six-person deluxe chairlift experience will not only provide a comfortable ride, but get you there fast and efficiently. What more could you want? Mt. Rose

Suns out, guns out. Mt. Rose is bringing in snow making guns with higher fan speed to provide fresh powder on even the sunniest and meltiest of days. With this new snow comes the introduction of the renaming and relocation of the Ponderosa chairlift. Newbies rejoice! Now called the “Wizard,” it will provide access to 5 new beginner trails. Along with this, Mt. Rose is dedicating its time and money to many large renovation projects! This includes the renovation of The Timbers as well as the Main Lodge basket/ ski check-in. They didn’t forget the kiddos! The Kids Lesson registration area will also be renovated in an effort to reduce wait times. There are many new things to come for 2015-2016 at Mt. Rose. This season diamond peak is bringing out the big guns … literally. The resort is expanding their snow making gun system to more powerful and efficient snow guns to ensure pristine snow. That’s not all, the resort is currently under construction of a master plan for exploring the ideas of maximizing the winter experience for its guests.
