Must-Attend Summer Events in Reno Tahoe

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Look no further! Reno Tahoe offers enough summer events to keep your calendar full for the entire season. From outdoor festivals to sporting events and food, there are plenty of activities to keep your summer days packed and exciting. Here are just a few upcoming local events you won’t want to miss.

Reno Craft Beer Week – Reno will be celebrating all things beer from Friday, June 2 through Saturday, June 10 with the best breweries in town. The event features beer bus tours, tastings, beer dinners and more.

Reno Rodeo – The legendary Reno Rodeo is back for 2017 at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. Enjoy rodeo sports, a carnival, local food vendors, Western shopping and of course, end the festivities at the Jack Daniels Tent. This 10-day event kicks off on June 15 with a concert and wraps up on Saturday, June 24.

July

Artown – For the entire month of July, Reno is Artown! This arts and culture festival features music, dance, theater, visual arts, hands-on activities, art walks and much more. Visit their website for dates and locations.

The Biggest Little Wing Fest  – Over 20,000 pounds of chicken wings will spice up Virginia Street in downtown Reno on Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2. Enjoy live entertainment, local craft beer and cash prizes!

Star Spangled Sparks – On two dates – July 1 and July 4 – this event will bring family and friends together in Victorian Square to watch the region’s longest and most spectacular fireworks display. During the afternoon, take in live entertainment, an area for kids and a wide variety of food.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival –  Instagram-worthy sunsets over Lake Tahoe, sandy toes and a glass of wine, all while watching Shakespeare’s enchanting stories performed by talented actors? Check all of the above off your list at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, which starts on Saturday, July 8 and runs through Sunday, August 27.

August

Hot August Nights – Music from the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s, plus more than 6,000 classic automobiles, from restored hot rods to powerful muscle cars, makes this the largest classic car event in the country. The events runs from Tuesday, August 8 through Sunday August 13.

CANFEST – Dedicated to beer-lovers, The Grand Sierra Resort presents CANFEST! This tasting festival features microbreweries from across the country as they pour unlimited beer samples for attendees. Live music, a silent disco, food and much more will be in the mix. The event is on Saturday, August 26, from 6 to 11 p.m.

Burning Man – Become a part of the growing community of Burners in Black Rock City. Create art, exchange ideas and participate in the burning of the Man. Dates run from Sunday, August 27 to Monday, September 4.

Nugget Rib Cook off – On Labor Day weekend, 23 of the best rib cookers in the country will be firing up their barbecues for the 29th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cookoff on Victorian Square in Sparks. This one-of-a-kind culinary experience takes place on Wednesday, August 30 through Monday, September 4.

Reno Aces – The Reno Aces will be on the Greater Nevada Field all summer long! Click here to view their 2017 schedule.

Reno Street Food – Enjoy unique flavors from a variety of four-wheeled gourmet kitchens at  Idlewild Park every Friday night, from 5 to 9 p.m. The last day of the event will be on Friday, September 9.

Farmers Market – Starting Thursday, June 8 through Thursday, August 24 shoppers can enjoy a variety of fresh produce, international food and beverage items, hand-picked flowers and activities for the kids. Farmers Market is held every Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Sands Regency Hotel Casino.
