Haunted Happenings this October
October 31st has been celebrated throughout many cultures as a day for the supernatural. Over 2,000 years ago the ancient Celtic’s believed that the ghosts of the dead would return to haunt the living. This day was known for huge bonfires, and dressing up in attempts to scare off any ghosts. By the late 1800’s Halloween in America was evolving into a holiday centered on community and neighborhood gatherings. Although the traditions of Halloween have changed over the years the spooky nature of the day continues to haunt us. Nowadays you don’t have to wait till the 31st to get a good scare. While some haunted houses are open year round, many of them pop up for the entire month of October.
