Guide to Comic Con Reno 2015
It’s almost time of the cosplay convention of the year! On November 20th – 22nd Wizard World Comic Con is returning to Reno! This widely-held event is rooted as a comic book convention but has sprouted into a massive pop culture gathering. With an abundance of fan-favorite comic creators, authors, directors, producers and writers, fans have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes experience for many of their favorite movies and TV shows. After a hugely successful first year in 2014, the Wizard World Comic Con is returning to Reno for another year of all things nerdy-cool fun.
If you’re a newbie or a veteran Comic Con goer, here is a guide on how to get the most out of your experience.
The official Comic Con term for dressing up is “cosplay” or a combination of costume and play. Comic Con attendees are known for going all-out with their creative costumes. Our suggestion is to have fun with a costume! Wear something comfortable (There may be a lot of walking!), and embrace the chance to be your favorite superhero, villain, movie or TV star for the day. Don’t over-think your costume, almost any character can be found in comics or pop culture. For a lot of creative ideas check out our Pinterest page!
Before the event, look at the schedule and prepare for which events you want to attend. This year Wizard World presents some popular acts. There will be a Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes with a Jay & Silent Bob Get Old panel. The Batman panel with Adam West & Burt Ward is already sold out. WWE’s Dean Ambrose and Diva Charlotte will rock into Reno and host two separate panels. Jason David Frank will have a meet & greet. And for everyone who wants to learn a new skill, “The Highlander” Adrian Paul will be teaching sword fighting.
Get your ticket!
There are many levels of ticket options ranging from general admission to VIP. Regardless of which pass is right for you, the best option is to purchase online before the event.
Embrace the pop culture
The special guests attending Reno’s Comic Con include many artists, authors, creators, and actors. Comic Con has evolved over the years and now includes many actors and performers from all genres of film. Meet the famous Bill Farmer although he might be better known as Goofy. Find out what “Full House” star Jodie Sweetin has in store for the 2016 Netflix spinoff “Fuller House”. Bump into Batman and his “Boy Wonder” partner Robin from the well-known 1960’s TV show. Trekkie enthusiasts can finally meet the human behind their beloved android Data. Walk around enough at the event and you may find The Walking Dead’s Tovah Feldshuh. Memorable heartthrobs such as as American Beauty Mena Suvari, Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World, Milo Ventimiglia from Gilmore Girls and Heroes, and Jason David Frank from Power Rangers will be attending.
To make the most out of this event our best advice is to have fun! If this is an event you wouldn’t normally attend, think of this as the perfect time to embrace your inner pop culture fanatic. While they may be somewhat new, Comic Cons are being held all over the globe. Their popularity and success comes directly from those who attend. A real sense of community is felt at these events when fans come together to celebrate their shared passion. With no other experience comparable to Comic Con visitors are encouraged to jump all in and enjoy this quirky event.
