Favorite Reno Tahoe Memories of 2016

2016 has been a year of outdoor adventures, exciting events, and one-of-a-kind experiences in the Reno Tahoe area. See some of the highlights and cheers to a wonderful 2017!

Epic Selfies

Alex Chacón, aka, “The Epic Selfie Guy,” visited Reno Tahoe for a weekend this summer and created the most epic selfie video showcasing some of best things about summer. Click here to see the full video on YouTube, featuring camel races, balloon rides, Lake Tahoe views and more. 🎥

Reno is Artown

From a 24-hour mural competition to Artown, a month-long art festival featuring 500 events, the Reno Tahoe area is an arts and culture destination all year long. It’s impossible to walk through the trendy MidTown district without seeing one of the more than 60 murals painted by local, national and international artists. 🎨

Weekend Getaways

See what happened when a group of Instagram Influencers planned an autumn girls’ getaway with plenty of mountain biking, bright fall colors and enjoying all that Reno Tahoe has to offer! 🚲🍃

Taking Flight

Good news for those in the southern California or southern states – it’s easier than ever to travel to the area! Reno Tahoe International Airport introduced a new Jet Blue flight from Long Beach, CA this summer, and the new Delta flight from Atlanta, GA to the Biggest Little City began just in time for ski season. ✈️

BELIEVE-ing in Art

As the gateway for the annual Burning Man festival, Reno has embraced burner culture year-round, throughout the city. The iconic “Believe” sculpture, located at the City Plaza in downtown Reno, is one of many pieces of Burning Man art you can find around Reno. Reno also welcomed the Playa Art Park which displays sculptures from this year’s Burning Man. There are currently 170 pieces of public art in the city of Reno, and the number is rising. ✌️

Lake Tahoe Keeps Blue & Beautiful

Possibly the most photogenic (and fun!) location in the country, Lake Tahoe has filled to its natural rim thanks to plenty of rainfall this year, which has the Sapphire of the Sierra looking better than ever. Now that’s a reason for paddleboarders, kayakers and Instagrammers to celebrate! 💙

Dog Days of Reno Tahoe

Instagram’s favorite wolf-dog, Loki, explored Lake Tahoe this year and shared the most gorgeous sunset photos to prove it. This area is the perfect place for pup-cations, and there are sure to be many more photos of both guest and resident #DogsofRenoTahoe in 2017.

Epic Events

So many events, so little time! This year saw a zombie takeover, a Santa takeover, leprechaun takeover…along with every kind of race you can imagine – airplanes, balloons and camels, oh my! Reno Tahoe knows how to party, and the 2017 events calendar is filled with even more reasons to plan your trip to the Biggest Little City. 🗓🍺
